Built by Denieuwegeneratie this exceptional semi-underground residence named Mountain House comes with its own mountain – created as an artificial hill to camouflage the residence on the northern side. Located in a nature reserve the Dutch Mountain House measures 12 x 19 meters of bright open interiors. An interesting flexible structure on the inside allows the space to be compartmentalized according to the family’s needs. Wooden structures ensure that a future space rearrangement would be easy and creative.
According to the architect team remodeling was done on the parent building to increase the living space. They included four luxurious bedrooms and a large entertainment area in the original building. Since the original building was flat-roofed a vertical expansion was a viable option for the future. With the sliding and stacking doors and glassy windows the difference between internal and external areas are dissolved considerably giving the home an urban feel while retaining natural openness.
The interior of ‘Loft Apartment’ imparts aesthetics as well as a contemporary outlook altogether. Right from the entrance you would be invited by a sequence of bright colored paintings and this seems to be most distinguishable trait of this contemporary building.
The house appears to be a brilliant option from an economical point of view. It utilizes every scope for natural methods of power conservation like natural cross ventilation a geo-thermal heating and cooling system and the double-paneled roof. These facilities ensure cool and nice living for residents in this house. Also energy charges could be trimmed down significantly.
Situated in the outskirts of Cape Town in South Africa the residence has been designed to get a wonderful view of the mesmerizing sea and the beautiful mountains. The house built as a sequence of the nearby Nettleton 195 gets its design from Cape Town based studio SAOTA aka Stefan Antoni Olmesdahl Truen Architects.
Designed to meet the needs of one family the western half of the duplex displays a floor plan made out of many rooms. A circular staircase joins the levels in this side.
Stretching across an area of 4589 square feet this wonderful two storey building has the main living room as well as the master suite on the second level. This allows you to have a full coverage of the exciting outdoor view. The house is an exemplary example of using wood in house construction.
