The neutral shade selected for its walls impart warmth and luxurious outlook to this outstanding edifice. Architects succeeded in imparting an urban touch to this years-old structure. The pool expensive furniture glass wall carpets and lighting all have contributed significantly to redefine its old-fashioned outlook.
The Nettleton 199 project partner Greg Truen states the task was to create a building which would give a maximum view of the sea and to create a garden beside the mountain located near the site. They also wanted minimal exposure to the neighboring buildings. The residence overlooks the Atlantic Ocean to the west and its design gives prime-most importance to privacy such that it offers least vision to neighboring houses.
Flooded by light through the glass side and featuring skylights and round windows the partly hidden structure benefits from a natural glow complimented by a carefully designed lighting system. An old jaguar car lives its second life as a bookshelf in the kitchen.
By choosing a color palette that would compliment the surroundings, the architects dissolved the boundaries between indoors and outdoors and prolonged the dynamic coastline inside. An open floor plan allowed the creation of an L-shaped cooking/living/entertaining zone open to the outside deck and swimming pool. Behind the white volume in the front two distinct residences are united through an interior staircase in the middle with a corresponding set of wider stairs in the front yard placed slightly higher than the garage level. Named the this duplex is located in Stuttgart Germany.
Since it is housed in a crowded town availability of space was a major constraint. Within the limited space the designers have marvelously managed to erect this wonderful building. They used every technology which would enable them to mask the possible difficulties of limited space.
The extremely high ceilings in the living area make a roomy and grandiose statement. The hanging globe lamps accentuate this height even further. The flight of stairs with a landing is neatly placed against a wall that occupies a minimum of space allowing full use of the ground floor without a big visual intrusion.
